Carte blanche
River Jazz Festival
Guitarist Eliott Knuets presents his new international quintet, bringing together five young musicians from different cultural and musical backgrounds, each bringing their own voice, sensibility and artistic identity to the project.
To top it all off, he’s inviting an up-and-coming singer from Switzerland.
For this new line-up, he has brought together four musicians whom he particularly admires : Iannis Obiols, a pianist from Spain ; Sam Barnett, an English alto saxophonist ; Paulo Almeida, a Brazilian drummer ; and Nadav Erlich, a double bassist from Israel. The richness of this quintet lies above all in the coming together of these five musical personalities. Their different backgrounds, influences and experiences create a particularly rich creative space, where each member can express themselves fully whilst contributing to the
development of a shared musical language.
For this ensemble, new compositions have been written specifically to showcase the personalities and musical qualities of each member. The project thus represents a new stage in his artistic journey, driven by a desire to explore new sounds, new forms and new musical directions.
Led by a generation of young musicians already very active on the international jazz scene, the quintet offers music that is personal, expressive and resolutely contemporary, in which interaction and freedom take centre stage.
