FR Saxophone, voix et batterie sont les éléments de base de ce trio finlandais. Le violoncelle, le Glockenspiel et l’harmonium sont également de la partie - en fonction des caprices d’Anni Elif Egecioglu, de Pauli Lyytinen et de Tatu Rönkkö, qui transgressent ensemble la musique depuis 2007.

KAJA DRAKSLER’S ACROPOLIS QUINTET (Ljubljana, Slovenia)
FR Acropolis Quintet réunit des musiciens turcs, roumains et italiens, tous actuellement basés à Amsterdam. Kaja Draksler est déjà un personnage phare de la scène musicale slovène, où elle a produit trois CD. Le dernier, intitulé Turku, offre une perspective musicale intégrant le modernisme de Vijay Iyer à la mélancolie des chansons traditionnelles d’Europe de l’Est.
NL Met het Acropolis Quintet brengt ze musici uit Turkije, Roemenië en Italië samen. Hun vaste stek hebben ze in Amsterdam. In Slovenië is Kaja Draksler met 3 cd’s op haar naam geen onbekende meer. Op haar nieuwste CD, Turku, is te horen hoe zij het modernisme van Vijay Iyer doet aansluiten bij de melancholie van traditionele Oost-Europese liederen.
EN Acropolis Quintet features musicians from Turkey, Romania and Italy, and what’s more they’re all currently based in Amsterdam. Kaja Draksler is already a substantial figure on the Slovenian music scene with three cds as leader, the latest of which is Turku. It’s a musical perspective that integrates the modernism of Vijay Iyer with the broody qualities of Eastern Europe’s song traditions.

FR Distorsion, feedback, retard. En les appliquant au vibraphone, Benjamin Flament a découvert le son un peu sauvage que renfermait cet instrument si souvent jugé poli et maniéré, reliant ses vibrations à de lointains parents, gamelan javanais, bols chantants tibétains et pianos à pouces africains. Le bassiste Joachim Florent et le batteur Elie Duris créent sans répit un tourbillon de rythmes et de textures parfaitement synchronisé avec ce paysage percussif modifié.
NL Vervorming, feedback, vertraging… Toegepast op de vibrafoon krijgt dit instrument met zijn afgeborstelde imago plots een ruwe toets. De vibraties brengen verre voorlopers van de vibrafoon in herinnering : de Javaanse gamelan, de Tibetaanse klankschalen, de Afrikaanse duimpiano. Verrijkt met drums en bass klinkt MeTaL-O-PHoNe als een draaikolk van onafgebroken ritmes en texturen.
EN Distortion, feedback, delay. In applying them to the vibraphone, Benjamin Flament has found sound something wild in an instrument so often typecast as polite and mannered, connecting the vibes back to its distant relatives like the Javanese gamelan, Tibetan singing bowls and African thumb pianos. Bassist Joachim Florent and drummer Elie Duris give no quarter in creating a swirling tempest of rhythms and textures that’s perfectly in sync with this altered percussive landscape.
